Oil Park Development Company (OPDC), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund (PIF) of Saudi Arabia and the entity behind THE RIG., has formally entered into a memorandum of understanding with the National Center for Wildlife. The agreement aims to bolster collaboration in wildlife conservation efforts and to mutually achieve their respective objectives.
The signing ceremony took place at the National Center for Wildlife's headquarters in Riyadh, with Raed Bakhrji, CEO of Oil Park Development Company (OPDC), and Dr. Mohamed Qurban, CEO of the National Center for Wildlife, officially sealing the agreement.
The agreement will support THE RIG. in its efforts to maximize positive environmental impact, empower communities, facilitate eco-experiences, and operate responsibly through initiatives such as:
Raed Bakhrji stated, “Today, we are delighted to have signed this memorandum of understanding, which reflects the commitment of both parties to conserving wildlife, ensuring sustainability and prosperity. This will be achieved through an integrated framework system, the exchange of benefits, unified efforts, alignment of plans with common goals, sharing of experiences, consultations, and studies, as well as the promotion of social environmental responsibility.”
Bakhrji further affirmed, “We are dedicated to the environmental sustainability standards in our project, with a focus on safeguarding natural resources and promoting the development of wildlife as key priorities. This is in line with the Kingdom’s environmental development initiatives.” adding, “This memorandum of understanding will enhance our partnership with the National Center for Wildlife, as we work to instill the principles of environmental sustainability in the area surrounding THE RIG. through our commitment to environmental protection and development.”
Dr. Mohammed Qurban stated, "This memorandum of understanding establishes an organizational framework for cooperation with the Oil Park Development Company (OPDC) in the conservation and sustainability of wildlife within the area of THE RIG. project. This aligns with the Center's dedication to preserving ecosystems, conserving and enhancing biodiversity in accordance with the National Environmental Strategy, the Saudi Green Initiative, and the objectives of Vision 2030."
Dr. Mohammed Qurban further remarked, "This memorandum of understanding demonstrates our commitment to improving environmental performance, equilibrium, and efficiency in accordance with global best practices, to further the Center's vision of establishing thriving and enduring ecosystems. This aligns with our dedication to advocating sustainable management approaches for ecosystems and maximizing their economic and social impact."
